Worst Wellness Myths That You Need To Ditch Right Now

When it comes to the world of health and fitness, you are bound to hear a lot of voices telling you what to do and what not to do. The voices may be from people who have had personal experiences with getting on the healthier side of the spectrum or from professionals who have studied the art of fitness for years. However, in the midst of these two, there is a lurking evil that lies somewhere in between that catches you at the wrong time. It is called misinformation.

Misinformation spreads quickly as people are fast to believe what they see on the television and/or the internet without doing their own research. The problem with misinformation is that it can get quite dangerous. Sometimes, it could even seriously affect one’s mental health and at other times, it can make it difficult for you to continue your healthy lifestyle. So, while numerous articles on the internet give you a rundown on how to live a healthy lifestyle, there are hardly any articles that tell you about the misinformation. So, here are some wellness myths that you need to stop believing.

1. Carbs Are Not Evil

Yes, it is not the carbs you eat that hide in your closet and sew your clothes a bit tighter each passing day. Well, this is what most people think when it comes to including carbohydrates in their diets. Because of this misconception, they start cutting it out entirely and are happy when they start to see the results. However, there is a different reason behind it. Eating carbs provides you with the necessary energy to go about your day while allowing water to stay in your body. When you cut the carbs out out, you force your body to use the stored fat but, on the other hand, you lose all the water too, which means you are not only losing fat but also muscle weight! Scientists claim that you can live longer when you get calories from carbohydrates.

2. Don’t Say No To Lentils

For most people, lentils have garnered a bad reputation for causing gastrointestinal distress. This happens because lentils are a source of most raw forms of protein when they are uncooked. People may face discomfort since they are not used to getting those high amounts of fiber in their diet in a single sitting. But, getting rid of an entire food group from your diet not only limits, but also makes it difficult for you to ingest high-fiber foods.

3. Coconut Oil Is Not That Special

There was a time when coconut oil was considered a solution for all kinds of problems, but it’s not that special, especially when it comes to your health, since it is a highly saturated fat that can lead to cardiovascular problems and stroke.
